SUNRISE Finland Stakeholder Workshop

09.12.2019 08:30 - 17:00

The EU SUNRISE (“Solar energy for a circular economy”) coordination and support action (CSA  https://www.sunriseaction.eu) is preparing a large scale research initiative aiming to provide novel technologies for a sustainable production of fuels and chemicals from sunlight and abundant raw materials such as CO2, O2 and N2. SUNRISE involves three principally different approaches: Electrochemical conversion with renewable power, Direct conversion via integrated artificial photosynthetic systems and Direct conversion via biological and biohybrid systems. Recently SUNRISE and Energy-X (another EU CSA initiative selected by EU) announced the joint cooperation as a major step towards building a carbon neutral EU.

In order to enhance national collaboration and also to include stakeholders (industry, governance, funding agencies) into the discussion concerning sustainable energy/chemicals production in Finland and in Europe, the University of Turku is organizing a national SUNRISE Finland Stakeholder Workshop on Monday, 9th of December in Turku.
